Kate Clinton

Kate Clinton is a faith-based, tax-paying, America-loving political humorist and family entertainer. With a career spanning over 28 years, Kate Clinton has worked through economic booms and busts, Disneyfication and Walmartization, gay movements and gay markets, lesbian chic and queer eyes, and EIGHT presidential inaugurals.  She still believes that humor gets us through peacetime, wartime, scoundrel time and economic down times.

This year Lady HaHa will tour the US and Canada.  Last year, Kate's show Yes on K8 toured nationwide.  It followed her 2007 show, Climate Change, a CD of which was released in March, 2008.  In 2006, Kate Clinton celebrated her 25th Anniversary of performing with a 50-city It’s Come To This! tour.  A documentary DVD of her hilarious performance with extra features of personal moments along the tour route, rare interviews, backstage banter, readings from her book What the L?, and celebrity cameo appearances is now available. Her two decades plus of material are on record in her eight comedy collections, including Climate Change, Comedy You Can Dance To, Read These Lips and The Marrying Kind.  Her new collection I Told You So (March '09) is a hilarious, bittersweet, politically acute survival guide. Kate's third book I Told You So was released in 2009. In 2005 What The L?  a laugh-out-loud collection of dangerous humor from one of the all-time-favorite lesbian comics living under one of the all-time-worst presidents.  In 2005 it was nominated in the humor category for the prestigious 2005 Lambda Literary Award, considered to be the highest accolade for a book from the LGBT community. In addition to live performance, Kate appeared in the film The Secret Lives of Dentists directed by Alan Rudolph and is one of four lesbian comics featured in Laughing Matters, an award-winning documentary produced by Andrea Meyerson.  She is the narrator's voice in Joan Biren's documentary No Secrets Anymore - the Times of Del Martin and Phyllis Lyons and has a cameo appearance in Dee Mosbacher's documentary Radical Harmonies. Danny Williams

Danny discovered his love of performing at an early age.  Despite attempts at being a romantic lead, he was instead consistently cast in the comic roles.  In college he found that he had a knack for improvisation.

In 1981, he wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals for the cult favorite song “Castro Boy”.  Despite its age, it is still played on college radio stations and has a large following.  In fact, in 2007 it was a top hit in Amsterdam.

He began doing stand-up at the legendary Valencia Rose in San Francisco in 1982.  As the years went by he won the Gay Community Award for Top Male Entertainer five times, the Cabaret Gold Award for Top Male Comic three times and the Cable Car Award for Entertainer of the Year,

He was also given both the Harvey Milk Award and the John L. Wasserman Award for his humanitarian works.  Danny has made a lifelong commitment to performing at benefits with no remuneration.  He has also served on the Board of Directors for four non-profit organizations.

Danny has performed with some of the top names in live performance.  He has done his comedy in Canada, Europe and throughout the United States.

Danny is the playwright of “1970”, which was about his years on the streets and the show “P.S. Bette Davis”.  He was part of The Happy-Go-Luckys with Marga Gomez and Monica Palacios.

Besides doing benefits, his greatest performing love has been on RSVP cruises.  He has performed on around 200 RSVP travel events.  This year marks his 22nd season with RSVP.  Danny is delighted to know that there will be passengers on board who were born after he started with RSVP.  Being part of RSVP has allowed Danny to meet amazing people, make lifelong friendships, travel the world and, hopefully, bring laughter to our incredible passengers.

Danny is lucky enough to have an amazing life partner, Brian Moser, who he met on an RSVP cruise.  They were married in California - a marriage still recognized by the State.  Danny is truly blessed to have this amazing man in his life.  www.myspace.com/psdannywilliams

Paul J. Williams

Cruise Director Paul J. Williams has been making people laugh since a very young age, and had his first RSVP appearance in 2001.  Paul J. loves this quote from his idol, Lily Tomlin, “I realized early on that people were laughing at me….I decided ‘hey, I might as well try to be funny!’”.  His wit, rapid-fire comedy and wacky characters, including Sister Helen Holy and Nelda Pickens, make this multi-talented actor/comedian/singer in high demand.  His humor draws on his family, his experiences as a single male, his Texas residency and his political and social observations of the world around him.  This past October, his first television special, ONE NIGHT STAND UP-HOLLYWOOD premiered on the MTV/LOGO network.  One of Paul J's lesser known talents is singing, as he was born into a musical family, studied voice in college and has sung with several major groups in the U.S. including the New York Choral Artists, Orpheus Chamber Singers and the Dallas Symphony.  In addition to his regular work with RSVP, Paul J. is also the producer of Comedy Night at Aspen Gay Ski Week and appears at events all around the country.  www.PaulJWilliams.com

When A Man Loves A Diva!

These men sing songs about love that made Divas of the women who recorded them.  From the Chiffons to the Supremes, from Aretha to Donna to Duffy, it takes chutzpah for these men to unleash their inner “divas”.  Wait until you hear these men who aren't too proud to belt.  Their often shameless renditions remind us that there ain't no mountain high enough, ain’t no river wide enough to keep us from having a dangerously good time.

Dane Stauffer - (Co-creator with Mary Kelley Leer and Sanford Moore)

Dane has had the pleasure of working with many prima Donnas of the theater.  Olympia Dukakis coached him, Madeline Kahn danced on his back in stiletto heels, and he sat next to Ann Miller on Broadway, for what seemed like several hours, minus intermission.  He sang for Aretha, he’s been speechless in front of Lily Tomlin, strangled by Tatum O’Neill.  Based in Los Angeles, he’s been performing in San Diego’s longest running show ever - “Triple Espresso” - while teaching Yoga, Voice and Improvisation, writing plays, and recording a CD.  A prolific playwright, he’s had over a dozen plays produced in the last decade, including his solo shows; “Duesenberg 55”,Playground Battlescars”, and the recent “I’m Ready to Talk About My Narcissism”.  An alum of Children’s Theatre School, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and the Playwright’s Center, he’s been featured on KTCA/PBS “Technical Difficulties,” and the Emmy award winning “American Scream: Dudley Riggs’s First 30 Years”, and more recently on “My Network’s” tele-novellas “Fashion House” (with Bo Derek and Morgan Fairchild) and “Wicked, Wicked Games” (with Tatum O’Neil).  He’s improvised extensively at Dudley Riggs Brave New Workshop, on the Inaugural season of the Disney Magic cruise ship, and will be improvising with MAD TV alum Mo Collins at Second City Los Angeles, starting this year.  For more information about his upcoming CD Release “The Name is Dane”, visit www.TheNameisDane.com.  He would like to dedicate his performance to and to the memory of his sweet Mom, Donna, who always taught him to stop and see the beauty of all things.

Patrick Dunlea

Patrick Dunlea is a native of Quincy Massachusetts, and was a contestant on Bravo TV’s Season 5 of Top Chef.  He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, and is currently on staff at Bobolink Dairy farm located in New Jersey.  Patrick began his culinary journey while working along side his grandmother in her kitchen, creating such delectable delights as Boston baked beans, blueberries and cream and meatloaf.

Patrick thinks cooking should be an approachable art, accessible to anyone who finds him or herself in a kitchen.  Supporting local, sustainable agriculture is important to Patrick because it enriches not only the ingredients we use, but also the community from which they come. He believes strongly in food education and awareness.  His philosophy is that it is important to understand the sources of your food.  “You are what you eat, but you are also what you eat eats.”

Perhaps better than anyone, he knows that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and the path to Patrick’s heart lays somewhere between the appetizer and dessert courses at a rustic French Bistro.

Events and Parties

We know how to keep you entertained, and have been doing it strong for 20 years. Here are some of the events and parties we're planning for you.

Bon Voyage Party

Join your fellow RSVP Cruisers as we sail away from Ft. Lauderdale. Wear a T-Shirt from your hometown – meet your neighbors and lots of new friends. RSVP President Charlie Rounds will be on hand to welcome you aboard and introduce the RSVP Team.

Valentine Dance Party

Wear something “red and sexy” - your imagination is the only limit here. With one of our world-class DJ’s spinning, this late night party is sure to be very SEXY. Red “disco” pants, red “boxers”, red “briefs”, red “whatever”... you won’t want to miss this late night event.

Olympic-Style T-Dance

Well, this should be FUN! Our hats are off to the athletes who are competing in the Canadian cold as we sail the warm waters of the Caribbean. Dress as your favorite athlete or team for this afternoon event. Are you a gymnast, pole vaulter, high diver, skater, skier - what is your sport? Winter or Summer Games, whatever you prefer.

Uniform Dance Party

Cop, sailor, delivery man, leather daddy - what ever suits your mood. Dress up (or down) as much as you like - it should be a HOT night for this late night party with music by one of our featured DJ’s.

Masquerade T-Dance

Everyone will be in disguise at this festive, afternoon t-dance. What’s in your closet? Bring a mask from home or swing by the local party store and pick up something fun that you could “customize!” And if you are concerned about the added Baggage Fee, make one from items purchased in port, get creative. Whatever your choice, all you need for this RSVP event is a mask and your T-dance ensemble - we will provide the music from one of our world class DJ’s.

More fun and games...

Pool Games

“Let the games begin!” Get your traveling buddies together to form a “Team” to compete in the RSVP “Olympic-style” Pool Games. Your team should include five members, plus a designated Cheer Leader. Have your team cheer ready to win over the crowd and influence the judges. Themed uniforms are encouraged; the judges will select the competitors and the RSVP Cruise Director will preside over the competition. Join in the fun - your team could walk away with the GOLD.

Cupid’s Red and White Bingo

In honor of Valentines Day, our first session will be Cupid’s “Red & White” Bingo. Dress in red or white, or both. Or you could dress up as Cupid - just watch where you shoot that arrow... Don’t be surprised if you see a few special Cupids flying around this event.

Singles Happy Hour

Solo travelers are encouraged to meet at the same time / same bar each night before dinner (see the daily schedule delivered to your stateroom each day for the location and time). Enjoy some casual chat over a nice beverage and then off to the Dining Room for dinner - unless you have other plans...?

Sailing Solo Singles Party

All passengers sailing “solo” are welcome to this first night mixer – meet your fellow single cruisers and make plans for tonight or the entire week. *see “Name Tags”.

Women’s Cocktail Hour

This gathering is a perfect chance for the women onboard to meet the other women onboard. It’s simple - just grab a name tag and mingle. Welcome Aboard! *See “Name Tags”.

*“Name Tags” - so, you know who you are, your friends know who you are - but that hot guy or gal over at the bar - they have no idea who you are. So, don’t be shy - walk over and introduce yourself. Sure, it may be your first RSVP cruise, but it might be theirs also - and you wouldn’t want a little shyness to stand in the way of a hot cruise romance? Or even more... We encourage you to be creative and make yourself a name tag to wear at the Single’s Party. No Holds Barred! Just remember, the room has a 10’ ceiling and 36” wide doors... Outside of that - anything goes. Something simple is OK, but why not let your “inner” self come out - you know you can do it. Show us. Not to worry, RSVP will have blank name tags available.

Wait, there’s still more!

First Time Cruisers Orientation

Newbie? Is this your first RSVP cruise? No problem - just join the other virgins at this fun and informative gathering. Our Cruise Director will give you the secret tips you need to know to make your RSVP Cruise the best ever. It’s easy, it’s fun and it’s FREE!

Door Decoration Contest

Over the years we have encouraged passengers to decorate their stateroom doors to let other passengers know something fun about themselves. Team RSVP is adding a “Door Decoration Contest” this year. Channel your “Martha Stewart” craftiness and be creative. ***Almost anything goes - keeping in mind three simple rules: Safety – Decorations should not obstruct doorways, hallways, nor create electrical or fire hazards. Taste – RSVP guests and ship’s crew come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Please refrain from using offensive images or nudity on door decorations. Cleanliness – Respect ship property. Do not damage door surfaces. It is your responsibility to clean up your decorations at the end of your cruise.

Country Dancing Lessons

Did you pack your shit kickers? The floor is clear and the music is ready as our instructors put you through the paces of the 2-step, line dancing, waltz, and everything else country. Grab a partner or meet someone there - either way you won’t want to miss the fun.

Movie Sing-a-long

Seriously? What are we thinking? Gay people singing at the top of their voices - how fun is that? Free popcorn.

Repentance (on your knees) Bingo and Church Lady Contest

Sinners Beware - you’re likely to spend (more) time on your knees repenting your sins (past and present). If you have transgressed, you must attend. Pious parishioners of every creed welcome. In conjunction with the very special Bingo, passengers are encouraged to dress up in “Southern Babatist Church Lady” attire. A special “parade” of ladies will occur and a prize will be awarded for the best church lady attire.

Queen (and King) of Half Moon Cay Competition

What is it about our passengers? They just love getting dressed up - for almost every occasion. So, the RSVP Team has come up with yet another “fun” excuse to glue on false eyelashes and don a fabulous wig. The “Queen (and King) of Half Moon Cay” competition will certainly be visually entertaining, as well as a fun time at the Sea View Pool. Our Judges will survey the entrants and choose the Royal couple who will reign over Half Moon Cay. Contestants should be a pair (2 people), one vying for Queen and one for King (do we need to explain this?). Each couple will be introduced, allowed to strut their stuff and the finalists will be asked a specially designed question. The BIG prize will be announced on the ship - but it is worthy of Royalty. So, pack your Tiara and Royal garb and sign up for this new event.

Almost Midnight Bingo

Late? No way... this Bingo session is scheduled for those passengers who like to stay up late and party. It’s a great way to ease into the late night events with some laughs and silliness - and maybe a BIG load of ca$h to cover your beverage bill. My Dad always told me, “you won’t win, if you don’t play.” Come on - it’s not Bingo like you remember growing up - this is RSVP Bingo! And - you can wear your “leather” - try that at your local bingo parlor!
